Childhood Disorders

We help patients with ADHD and developmental disorders, including autism and Asperger’s syndrome. At this time, we are only accepting adult patients.

Mental health disorders among children are described as serious changes in the way children typically learn, behave, or handle their emotions, causing distress and problems getting through the day. Some of the most common mental disorders that we treat children for include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and behavior disorders.

We also treat developmental disorders such as Autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
ASD is a developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. Children with ASD often have problems with social, emotional, and communication skills. They might repeat certain behaviors and might not want change in their daily activities. Many people with ASD also have different ways of learning, paying attention, or reacting to things. Signs of ASD begin during early childhood and typically last throughout a person’s life.

We also treat children with Asperger syndrome. AS is a condition on the autism spectrum.
People with this condition may be socially awkward and have an all-absorbing interest in specific topics.
Communication training and behavioral therapy can help people with the syndrome learn to socialize more successfully.

At this point, there is no cure for these childhood mental and developmental disorders, however, therapy and oftentimes medication can help to control symptoms. Certain medications may be prescribed if your child is hyperactive; antipsychotic drugs are sometimes used to treat severe behavioral problems, and antidepressants may be prescribed for anxiety.
